Mahane Yehuda Market

It is said that if you have been to this market you had the authentic experience and aroma of Jerusalem. A market place where you can meet people of all nationalities, religions and ages and buy foods and fruits of all colors, sizes and shapes. Mahaneh Yehuda is actually the neighborhood established in 1887 with 162 houses near the present market. The marketplace was originally called the ''Bet Yaakov market place. It was founded by three partners: Johannes Frutiger, Joseph Navon, and Shalom Konstrum, and was named after Jodah (Yehuda) Navon, Joseph's brother. Over the course of time the name came to include the marketplace as well. Here is the link for a nice article on this market http://www.fonerbooks.com/guide_30.htm.
