The Tomb of Bene Hezir or the Grotto of St. James

For Christians this is the Grotto of St. James the Apostle where he had hidden himself there after the arrest of Jesus (a 6th century tradition). By the 15 th century it had become the Tomb of St. James. However, an ancient Hebrew inscription inside the tomb refer it to the family tomb of the Beni Hezir (sons of Hezir), a priestly family mentioned in the Bible. The Hezirs worked in the Jerusalem Temple. The name appears in the Bible: "the seventeenth of Hezir (1 Chronicles 24:15)." They continued serving also in the Second Temple , because they are again mentioned among the functionaries (Nehemiah 10:20).
