Tomb of Jehoshaphat

One of the most religiously significant valley in this part of world is the valley of the Kedron which is also known as the Valley of Jehoshaphat. It is here according to biblical traditions the Last Judgment is going to happen. "I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land" records the Holy Bible (Joel 3:2). Jehoshaphat as a person (His name means "Yahweh has judged") was the fourth king Judah (Davidic dynasty, 873-849 BC) and mentioned several times in Bible ( 1 Kings 22:1-50; 2 Kings 3; 2 Chronicles 17:1 - 21:3). Although he is not connected with this valley, a tomb is shown here belonging to Jehoshaphat. However, it is generally accepted that the tomb is from much a later period (1st cent AD) and some even consider it to be a Christian chapel.
