Notre Dame De Sion, Ein Kerem
The order of Notre-Dame de Sion (Sisters of Our Lady of Zion) was founded by two brothers from France, Theodore and Fr. Marie Alphonse Ratisbonne who were born Jewish and converted to Christianity. They established an orphanage for girls here (1861). Fr. Marie lived here and after his death was buried in the convent cemetery itself. Today, Notre-Dame de Sion is a guest house for pilgrims.
