Tree of Judas (Cercis siliquastrum)

According to tradition Judas Iscariot hanged himself from a tree of this species and the flowers turned from white to red because of his blood. The tree thus is said to blush with shame every spring by producing these distinct deep pink flowers! (The first three photographs are however from Jerusalem and not from the hiked area i.e. Judean Mountains.)
